Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic and physically demanding style of yoga that synchronizes breath with a progressive series of postures. Developed by T. Krishnamacharya and Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in the 20th century, it emphasizes a set sequence of movements practiced daily, leading to increased strength and flexibility. Ashtanga is a Sanskrit term meaning "eight-limbs," referring to the eight limbs or eight-fold path of yoga as outlined by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras.
A regular Ashtanga practice will become moving meditation and a way to check in daily with the mind, body and spirit. Although this is a dynamic practice, modifications are available to suit the needs and level of the practitioner. Come with an open mind and heart!
